World Heritage Sites – China

     China has been, until fairly recently, a mysterious and unknown country to Westerners, since it has, for much of its history, avoided or minimized contact with other than its immediate neighbors. However, it has emerged onto the world stage and people are certainly curious about its vibrant culture and its significant contributions to mankind. Its history dates back over 2000 years and is rich with accomplishments and important events. It is also a large country with numerous significant natural places which are being explored more and more by modern travelers.
